5 interesting facts about India’s longest bridge, Inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on 26th May


The Dhola-Sadia bridge in Assam, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, promises better connectivity and will trigger economic revolution in Assam

  1. The Bhupen Hazarika Setu (Dhola–Sadiya Bridge) the longest bridge in India is 9.15 KM in length.The Bridge has been named after Bhupen Hazarika, a famous musician, poet and lyricist from Assam. 
  2. The project cost around 10.00 billion rupees and took around 5 years to complete. It is 3.5 KM longer than the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.
  3. The actual construction began in 2011 during the tenure of the UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
  4. The bridge is engineered to withstand earthquakes and the weight of 60-tonne battle tanks.
  5. The bridge will prove to be a significant link between Arunachal & Assam.
